Health Maintenance Organizations - HMOs are organizations that provide comprehensive health care at predetermined prices. Members choose a primary care physician who directs their care, referring them to network specialist when needed. Should a member go outside the HMO network there is no benefits available. A capitation fee schedule provides incentive for network physicians to keep patients healthy , rather than only treating illnesses.
